Morning Star Christian School falls under a governing Board that consists of active Elders from Bulawayo Christian Centre. The school was established as an extension of the Church and all its employees and students of Morning Star must abide by the Bulawayo Christian Centre statement of Faith.

Since the Bible, the fully inspired Word of God, does not change from one age to another, the truths contained in the Scriptures are as relevant today as when they were first written. It is therefore paramount that all Morning Star employees and students, agree to conduct themselves and live in a synonymous manner that is not compromising to the Word of God.

BULAWAYO CHRISTIAN CENTRE STATEMENT OF FAITH, JANUARY 2025

Inerrancy of Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, His full written revelation and is the final authority of faith and conduct.

Godhead

We believe in the One True Living God, who is Sovereign, Holy and Just, Equal in Three Persons for all eternity as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is righteous and yet full of love and mercy.

Creation

We believe the triune God created the heavens, the earth and all that is in them in 6 literal days according to His will. It was all done through the word of God for the ultimate glory of God.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s only Son and shares the title of God as the second member of the Godhead. He is our sole Mediator to the Father. That Jesus freely chose to give His sinless life for the remission of sins for all who believe.

We further believe His pre-existence, His incarnation, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His atonement, His bodily resurrection from the grave and His personal, visible return from heaven.

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine Person, eternal, underived, possessing all the attributes of personality and deity. The Holy Spirit also indwells, sanctifies, instructs, empowers believers for service and seals believers unto the day of redemption. Every believer possesses the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit from the moment of salvation and it is the duty of all those born of the Spirit to be led by the Spirit.

Fall of Man

We believe that man was directly and immediately created by God in His image and likeness. Man was created free of sin with intelligence, free will and moral responsibility to God. That God’s intention in the creation of man was that man should glorify God, enjoy God’s fellowship, live his life in the will of God.

Adam as head of the human race sinned in disobedience to God, as a result he lost his righteousness and communion with God and incurred the penalty of spiritual and physical death. Since we are in Adam, all men are born under the condemnation of sin. All men are then sinners by nature, by choice they transgress the Law of God; therefore, are subject to eternal death.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is wholly of God through the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, on merit of His blood, and not on the basis of human merit, works, or ceremonies. Salvation comes by sovereign grace through faith in the sufficient sacrifice of Jesus Christ, that is, we are justified when we repent of our sin and put our faith in Jesus Christ, this redemption is an act of grace. Those who are in Christ are kept by God’s divine power and are eternally secure in Him.

Church

We believe that the church is the spiritual body of which Christ is the head and that there is a two-fold aspect of the church, the universal and the local. All believers form part of the universal church and are called to spread the Gospel to all nations observing the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The local church is derived from the universal church and is completely autonomous. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by building its members up in the faith, by instruction of the word, by fellowship, by worship, by practicing baptism and Lord’s supper, and by discipline. All believers show by both their confession of Christ and their manner of life, that they obey Christ’s call to offer themselves to the Lord and to each other. The leadership of the church consists of Christ as the head, fivefold gifts, pastors (elders, bishops) and deacons respectively.

Water Baptism

We believe Christian Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water, which is a solemn public and beautiful testimony of a believer showing forth his/her faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and his/her union with Him in death to sin and resurrection to a new life. It is also a sign of fellowship and identification with the visible Body of Christ, the church.

Communion

We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration and proclamation of His death until He comes and should be always preceded by solemn self-examination. We also believe that, whereas the elements of Communion are only representative of the flesh and blood of Christ, participation in the Lord’s Supper is nevertheless an actual communion with the risen Christ, who indwells every believer, and so is present, fellowshipping with His people.

Five-fold Gifts

We believe the apostolic five-fold gifts are present and active in the church today, appointed by God to establish the church on the correct foundation, protect it with sound teaching and shepherd it through a heart of grace. These five ministry gifts are as follows Apostle, Prophet, Teacher, Evangelist and Pastor. The apostle being the head of the five has an authority from God to bring direction and clarity to the church. Each of these divine gifts have a unique role in edifying the church and bringing it to maturity.

Sanctification

We believe through obedience to the Word of God and the empowering of the Holy Spirit, the believer is able to live a life of increasing holiness in conformity to the will of God, becoming more and more like our Lord Jesus Christ. There is an ongoing battle between the flesh (old man) and the spirit (new man), in this battle eradication of sin is not possible, but the Holy Spirit does provide for victory over sin.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the nine spiritual gifts seen in the early church are still active today. These gifts are received through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, evidence of which is the speaking in tongues. We believe in divine healing through the anointing of oil and the laying on of hands. That these gifts are for the exhortation and edification of the boy of Christ.

Man and Woman

We believe that God wonderfully foreordained and immutably created each person as either male or female in conformity with their biological sex which is physically identified at birth and cannot be altered. These two distinct yet complementary genders reflect the image and nature of God.

Marriage

We believe marriage is a divine covenant between one man and one woman. It is not lawful for any man to have more than one wife, nor for any woman to have more than one husband at the same time. It is the duty of Christians to marry only ‘in the Lord’. In any given marriage the husband is the head of the home. All form of sexual relations outside of this definition of marriage is immoral and adulterous.

Freedom to worship

We believe in the autonomy of the local church, free from any external authority or control, with the right of self-government and freedom from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals, organizations, other secular or religious groups, or state. God alone is the Lord of the conscience. He has set it free from all obligation to receive or obey any such doctrines or demands of men as are in any respect in opposition to His Word or not contained in it. However, believers should adhere to the governing laws when it does not conflict with scripture or faith.

Royal Priesthood

We believe that as children of God we have a responsibility to fulfil the great commission and proclaim the goodness of Christ to all nations. We believe that every believer has the right and responsibility to interpret scripture so long as it’s done responsibly, in context, and being led by the Holy Spirit. That all believers have access to God through our High Priest Jesus Christ. We believe that every Christian has been set free from the bondage of the law and is called to live according to the spirit, this includes giving, that is we are free to give what we purposed in our hearts with a cheerful heart.

Right to Discipline

We believe that according to His divine will made known in His Word, the Lord has given all the power and authority to the elders to determine all matters of membership, policy, discipline, benevolence, and government within the Church. It follows then that all who are admitted to the privileges of church fellowship also become subject to the authority and government of the church in accordance with the rule of Christ. We believe in the importance of discipleship, mutual accountability of all believers to each other, as well as the need for discipline of sinning members of the congregation in accord with the standards of Scripture. This means that each member agrees to abide by the judgments of Biblical church authority.

Second Coming

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back with a physically glorified body as the Bridegroom to receive the church as His bride. We believe in a bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust. That all believers will be part of the first resurrection and the unbelievers part of the second. We believe that all men will have to give an account of their lives before the Lord. The believer for eternal rewards and the sinner for judgment.
