History of the School

Morning Star Christian School traces its roots back to 2008 when it was founded by Mr. Richard Langworthy, a senior pastor at Selbourne Park Christian Church in Bulawayo. Originally established under the name Morning Star Christian Academy, the school embraced the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) curriculum with a clear vision: to impart the truth of God’s Word while providing top-tier education that would equip students for tertiary education, both locally and internationally. The Academy catered to students from Early Childhood Development up to an A Level equivalent.

In 2019, a pivotal decision was made by the Board to transition to the Cambridge curriculum, marking the dawn of a new era for the institution. Adapting seamlessly to this change, Morning Star Christian School quickly established a solid reputation for academic excellence within the community. Despite this shift to a secular curriculum, the school has remained steadfast in upholding its original vision and missionChristian values are interwoven into the fabric of education, ensuring that lessons are taught through a biblical worldview.

The year 2022 marked a significant development as the High School branch of the Academy moved to a separate location, allowing for expanded growth opportunities for both the primary and high school sections. This transition effectively split the institution into two individual entities, paving the way for continued progress and development.

In 2024, a new chapter began with the acquisition of a Preschool located approximately 1km from the Primary School campus, leading to the establishment of Morning Star Preschool in 2025. The same year also witnessed the official registration of the Primary school, prompting a name change from Morning Star Christian Academy to Morning Star Christian School.

Presently, Morning Star Preschool caters to ECD learners aged 3 and 4, while Morning Star Christian School accommodates students from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Morning Star Christian Academy (The High School), now educates learners from Form 1 to Form 6, each institution playing a crucial role in shaping the educational journey of its students.

Mission
The purpose of the school is to help children come to the saving knowledge of Christ and prepare them for a life of faith, learning and service. It achieves this by providing a Christ-centred education that inspires students to learn and grow spiritually, to live under the authority of Jesus, their parents and teachers; to serve and show love and compassion to others and for them to excel academically.

Vision
To be a leading Christian school nurturing passionate followers of Jesus Christ who live godly and holy lives and who will be able to make a positive impact in their homes, their places of work, in their communities and the world over.
